I admit, living in Florida, I have trouble remembering what season we are in (or maybe it’s just my age). I remind myself what month it is, then try t0 associate the month with the correct season. Being a florist makes it a bit easier. When the trucks start carrying butterscotch mums and the wholesales are trying to sell me mum plants, it helps.
It’s kind of like…. hmm, this month is September, that means Halloween is coming up. That means it must be autumn. Yeah!!
I love autumn. I love the colors of autumn. I adore the weather that is just around the corner. Autumn is Rosh Hashanah, Halloween, Thanksgiving. Food and family!
Last week I got a head start on the holidays. I made kugel. My friends, both Jewish and non, gave it rave reviews. So I have decided to share my family recipe with you…
Cheryl’s kugel (noodle pudding)
one package egg noodles
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter, melted
1 pint sour cream
1 large carton cottage cheese
pinch of salt
spray 13 x 9 pan with cooking spray
sprinkle enough corn flake crumbs in the bottom to make a crust
mix all ingredients in a bowl and pour over crust
sprinkle a little more crumbs over top for a touch of color
bake 450 for 15 minutes
turnoven down to 350 and bake additional 30 to 45 minutes
Enjoy!
